Macto Championships to host international flyweight bout, June 27th

Last week an exciting new venture was launched in UK MMA, from the team that gave us five highly praised and very successful shows at Too Much Talent comes Macto. Long standing, UK technical fightwear brand ImpactLPA’s directors have joined forces with TMT as well as UK fight scene mainstay, Wad Alameddine.

Details from the launch were released by Ben Farrelly here last week.

Already causing a stir with the MMA return of Nick Osipzcak, Macto have also added an international bout between two undefeated flyweights.

In a statement of intent, the Macto team are flying in (5-0) Mark “The Beast” Sainci from the USA. the 30 year old is undefeated in both professional and amateur outings, taking 3 belts along the way before turning pro. Sainci comes in on the back of a Omoplata finish at the end of March and will look to make a name for himself on the UK Scene. Sainci told us “It’s a great honour to be coming to the UK and putting on a great show for all the fans.”

Greeting him at Arena MK, Milton Keynes will be highly touted (3-0) Sam Creasey fighting out of ELITE MMA.

Creasey was due to fight the same night as his opponent across the pond but the fight was pulled due to his opponent missing weight. Since then ‘The Hobbit’ has been itching to fight and finds himself the perfect platform on the inaugural Macto Championship.

Both men have held numerous titles as amateurs and the winner of this one will be well on their way to professional titles which ever side of the Atlantic takes the spoils.

Elsewhere on the card, heavy-hitters David Round and Alex Montagnani meet in the welterweight division and a ruthless K1 match up between Frasier ‘the Omen’ Opie and Louis King has been announced.

Tickets are available at a range of prices from standard admission to the full VIP experience including drinks package at MactoChampionships.com

Macto Championships takes place June 27th at Arena MK, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

“Expect Fireworks” Mark Sainci is heading to Macto Championships

When Macto Championships launched in April of 2015, it was their intention to bring in high level talent from across the globe. Barley a week after the launch Macto have confirmed an international bout between two unbeaten flyweights.

Mark ‘The Beast’ Sainci may be a relative unknown on these shores but the thirty year old is coming to announce himself on the scene. Sainci has been watched closely by those involved with Macto Championships for some time and with the launch of the new promotion it offers the perfect opportunity to show the UK fans why “The Beast” is one to watch.

“I’m training just like I always train and that’s one way, hard..”

A stand out amateur, Sainci claimed three titles before turning pro, something he wanted to do to prove his ability in what can be a very short career. “I had 7 amateur fights and went 7-0 with 3 belts, and I’m getting a little old here, so I had no choice but to go pro and try my best to compete with these young and up and comers” he told us.

A point that is often raised when UK based fighters are matched with those from the USA is the difference in wrestling.

The Iowa fighter has done his fair share of wrestling experience but he’s working his all round game. “My wrestling Credentials are okay, I’m not no all American, I wrestled a full year back in high school and went to college.”

“I do a lot of cross training with a lot of tough guys and camps and I’m always doing work at my camp, working with my boxing coach, my wrestling coach and also my jiu jitsu coach. (Brian McIntire, Tom Wollner, Johnny Martin)” Explains ‘The Beast’.

Facing Mark in his first bout in the UK is 3-0 Sam Creasey from Elite Training Centre. Creasey has found it tough to find an opponent since an injury a cancellation kept him out of the cage. ‘The Hobbit’s” record isn’t something that concerns the American flyweight, as he describes “I don’t have a manager like some fighters do, I just fight who ever they put in front of me. Which ever promoter hits me up and ask me to fight. Sam has a good ammy background but what does that mean to me?”

“I’ve learned a lot in this game, a record don’t mean nothing. Anything could be padded, so I don’t care about his 3-0 record or who he has fought, he is just another guy in my way I’m training just like I always train and that’s one way hard..”

There is no animosity from the 5-0 fighter however, he is respectful of his opponent and he’s not out to protect his record as he made clear when asked. “Someone’s ‘0’ gotta go…, No, don’t play no factor for me at all. I’m coming to his home town, I’m pumped about it and it’s nothing but respect to Sam. I know Sam is a tough kid and I know we will both put on a great show for the fans.”

Mark is familiar with some of the Macto team having worked with ImpactLPA for some time, and he has a message for any flyweights that might be heading to Macto in the future. “The way my mind set is setup is #LionsEat1st and I’m sure Sam is saying the same thing. So, what I’m saying is that every flyweight is on the Hit list! we all aim to be the best and showcase our skills..the ultimate goal is to be a part of the fighter’s roster and some day fight for the flyweight belt.”

We can expect to see much more of Mark Sainci in the UK with future shows and he certainly aims to deliver. If you haven’t seen him fight before be sure to check out his last fight below with a slick finish.

The Beast promises a spectacle come June 27th in Milton Keynes “Expect fireworks, expect two great fighters putting everything on the line and going out and having fun!”

Sam Creasey looking for ‘Fight to Remember’ at Macto Championships

Nicknamed “The Hobbit” Creasey is aware that he’s in one of the most exciting divisions in MMA, particularly for spectators. “There’s a wealth of talent in the UK at 125 now, it’s going to be interesting seeing the division increase in size and real fast paced action”.

After a couple of injuries and a weigh in day cancellation in his last scheduled bout, Sam took a little while to get booked again, as he explains. “I was pretty down for a while but I know my coaches made the right decision to pull me out, considering the weight difference. I took a little break after that to get my head right, a little rest to recharge the batteries and recover some injuries.”

Coincidently, his opponent for this fight “The Beast” was last in action that same night, scoring a very impression submission victory stateside.

Already booked for one more fight, Creasey hopes to be 4-0 come fight day in the 3,000 capacity arena, something he is looking forward to “It’s going to be great to compete on the first Macto event, from what I can see it’s going to be right up there with BAMMA and Cage Warriors”.

On the latter he continues, “It’s [CWFC’s absence] given the UK scene a different look for sure, Cage Warriors were really pushing the level up for the past couple of years, it’s a shame they have had to take a back seat but the fighters are going to be happy if they can stay active.”

In terms of the Iowa man’s skill set, Sam isn’t pre occupied with studying his opponent. “I’m not too familiar with Mark but I know he’s unbeaten, from a good fighting family and training out of a professional gym. I believe it will be a good competitive fight and I’m looking forward to testing my skills again” He added “I look forward to the challenge, he will be flying over full of confidence and I’ll be hoping we put on a good fight.”

Working on all aspects of the game is key to all fighters’ development as the sport continues to evolve and that’s something that Elite Training Centre provides. Sam told us how his training goes; “At elite there isn’t a specific coach who is teaching, we are a group of fighters who have come together over time and we make it work. I train at RGA Bucks for my BJJ under Kev Capel and have various sparring partners across the country that I travel over to work with.”

The 27 year from Leighton Buzzard has held a number of amateur titles much like his U.S counterpart and is in MMA for the long haul “I’ve been training roughly 5/6 years in MMA, before that I played rugby for my local team. I finished playing when I was 21 and was asked if I’d try out the new gym in town, from there it’s become an obsession for me.” He confessed.

“I look forward to sharing the cage with you and putting on a fight to remember.”

Macto Championships told media at their launch that they wanted to bring in skilled fighters on non-exclusive contracts and it’s likely an entertaining battle could see an invite back for both of these men. ‘The Hobbit’ promises full on action “Fans can expect excitement; we’re both unbeaten, always looking to finish the fight and ready to do whatever it takes to get the win.” And he isn’t looking past his opponent “Titles are great and a nice bonus but I’m happy fighting tough opponents and getting as much experience as possible.”

Regarding a message for his opponent, Creasey simply said “I look forward to sharing the cage with you and putting on a fight to remember.”

Sam Creasey would like to thank the following for their support; “All my team at Elite/RGA Bucks, sparring partners in Birmingham and Gym 01. My sponsors AutoFix, Lazy Bones, Stratton’s Butchers and Rising Phoenix Tattoo, your support are greatly appreciated.”
