PAIN PIT: SHOCKWAVE – NOVEMBER 1ST – NEWPORT CENTRE, WALES

South Wales combat sports staple Pain Pit are back at the Newport Centre, Gwent this weekend for Shockwave. A mix of professional and amateur MMA, with a splash of boxing thrown in for good measure.

The long established fighting talents of the valleys are well documented, none more so than when Tilleray Combat’s Jack Marshman put a fight of the month showing on at this very venue in September.

Supplied by the region’s top gyms, Pain Pit look to top the success of their last show with a stacked card for Newport’s fight fans.

Headlined by a Bantamweight Title fight between(7-8) Joe Orrey of the aforementioned Tilleray Combat and (1-1) Ben Rees of Lion’s Den MMA in Devon.

Rees looks to  rebound from a loss to UKMMA prospect Ed Arthur a year ago, prior to that he made an outstanding ‘Submission of the night’ debut at CWFC 55. Though Joe Orrey has failed to get the win in his last three, a look at his opponents confirms he’s capable of competing with the best of them. Johns, Raeburn & McCombe all legitimate competition.

Local fan favourite Ryan Marshall returns for a fourth time following a 1st round victory in March. He faces kickboxing ace & promoter and sparring partner to Welsh MMA stalwart David Round, James Wallis. Wallis, himself a Pain Pit veteran will welcome Marshall  to 185 in what promises to be a stand up war.

The two do battle for the middleweight title in a bout that is sure to blow the roof off in front of the near sell out crowd.

There is amateur action in the middleweight division which sees two semi final fights. Rob Howse  v Dane Morgan and Ashley Westover  v Will Davies, respectively. The winners will face off for the amateur 185lb title.
