The 12th instalment of Full Contact Contender takes place tomorrow at Bolton’s Macron stadium, with a card featuring Cage Warriors veterans, newly-turned professional fighters and a slew of up-and-coming local amateur talent.
We at On the Road with UKMMA will be in attendance as usual at the Macron as Liverpool’s own Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett clashes with fellow undefeated 145’er Kevin ‘The Machine Gunn’ Petshi for the promotions Professional European title. The bout forms one half of the card’s main event. In his pre-fight interviews, Pimblett has been incredibly confident about his chances against Petshi, claiming he will be ‘legged in the first round’. Expect fireworks from this one.
The second part of the main event double header sees SBG Mainline welterweight Matt Inman take on France’s Aymard Guih, who stepped in to replace Inman’s initial opponent David Round. Inman looks to bounce back from his current two-fight skid against Guih, who last fought on English soil when he dropped a loss to Brad Wheeler on Cage Warriors 56 back in 2013.
Elsewhere, former FCC Amateur Lightweight Champion Ashley ‘The Beast’ Reece makes the step up to professional on the show that established him as one of the country’s most exciting amateur fighters. Welcoming him to the professional ranks tomorrow night will be Ian ‘Willy’ Williams. Reece has a reputation for entertaining the crowd, and we’re hoping for more of the same at FCC 12.
Aaron Aby, a regular face on Full Contact Contender cards, will be looking to bounce back from a brutal defeat at the hands of Danny Missin back in October. Aby, whose initial opponent withdrew due to injury, takes on Ben ‘The Handyman Dearden’ in what looks to be an entertaining bout.
In terms of the amateur ranks, no less than four titles will be contested on the show. Brent Tierney takes on Omar Frederick at 205lbs, Andreas Tricomitis looks to steal the Welterweight crown from Chris Senior, Shaun Kenny and Paul Wadsworth will do battle for the Heavyweight belt and in what could be the most exciting contest of the evening, Aaron Robinson looks to defend his spot atop the flyweights as he takes on John Shink in a battle of the prospects. Robinson postponed his move to professional to take on Shink, who was victorious despite some trouble from his opponent on Shinobi War 4 just three weeks ago.
The fight card can be found here, and for all the results and happenings from Bolton’s Macron stadium tomorrow night, keep an eye on On the Road with UKMMA on Facebook and Twitter.
